I’m sure everyone has heard by now, but the match that match at Wimbledon was absolutely amazing. After ending the first day (Tuesday) due to darkness after the fourth set, Isner and Mahut played for seven hours on Wednesday! As if that wasn’t enough, they had to stop because of darkness again with the score tied 59-59. Finally on Thursday, after another hour of play (which actually lasted longer than two standard sets) we had our winner- Isner- breaking Mahut’s serve to win 70-68. The fact that those guys were even on their feet after the second day was amazing, but to get up and play again for another hour? That is absolutely incredible. I can’t motivate myself to get out of bed and run before work because I’m too sore from two days before. These guys end up playing just shy of 1000 points of tennis in a three day span, and Isner, the lucky (depending how you look at it) winner, gets the distinct pleasure of playing again Friday. Tennis players have certainly scored a few points in my book over the last few days.
