Michigan is a Midwestern state, not quite sure why since if we drew a line through the country it would definitely be more of a Mideastern state. The question is does it qualify as an eastern entity. I think the true measure of this would be the number of Volvo station wagons (clearly the official vehicle of movies that take place on the East coast) registered in the state.  If that number exceeds the national average, I think we make a decision to refer to ourselves as living in the Mideast!
