International Soccer or World Football?

Michael

Lionel Messi - FCBarcelona - International Soccer

To pretty much everyone on the planet outside the US and maybe Canada, football is a 90 minute game (called a match) that involves a lot of running, kicking, heading and no hands (unless you’re the goal keeper and you’re inside the box). Football is played on a pitch, which looks a lot like a field. When Fathead introduced players from Manchester United and FCBarcelona to its ever-expanding roster last week, there was some debate about what to call the new category. Well, actually, the debate took place mostly in my mind because when it comes to the world’s game there aren’t exactly a lot of aficionados around here. I settled on International Soccer because to most Americans that’s pretty clear and leaves little room for confusion over the phrase “pass the football” which in this case does not involve a tight spiral.

In case you don’t follow International Soccer, Manchester United and FCBarcelona faced off in this year’s UEFA Champions League final match which FCBarcelona won. These seemed like two really good clubs to start with since we had our pick of some well-known players like Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto’o and Thierry Henry of Barca and Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Cristiano Ronaldo of Man U. And yes, we know that Ronaldo is most likely off to Real Madrid but he’s had such a great career at Manchester United that we felt like everyone should have a chance to get him in his Red Devils jersey. We have a couple more clubs waiting on the sidelines that we’re finalizing now. We’re also planning on having the club crests which you might call the team logos.

Since Fathead is just getting into the world of International Soccer it seems like a good time to hear from all you fans out there about which clubs and footballers you’d love to see as a giant wall graphic. Give us a shout and let us know what you think. And, if you have any opinions about what to call the sport, you can share that too.

I think you should get a fathead of Mauro Zarate from S.S. Lazio or at least the Lazio crest

Very cool that these are now available. A lot of English Premiership teams (and some lower league teams too) are making a push to build visability in North America. Any team crest for Premiership teams should sell well. I’m a Manchester City fan (the blue not red Manchester team).

Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard of Liverpool would be popular sellers.

If you are going to make a fathead of anyone, you mite as well do one of Fernando Torres Liverpool’s Number nine. Or one of Steve Gerrard he’ll pass the ball forty yards, he’s big and he’s really hard, Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

My son is a HUGE Arenal fan. Cesc Fabregas would be a great addition. I purchased a Wallbanger of him and it did not stick, while our Beckham Fathead is up on the wall with no problems!! Also, Frank Lampard of Chelsea. I think you will find a huge market for just about any Premier League team and their stars. Looking forward to selecting one!!

Kids rooms are very fun and easy to decorate. With a little bit of thought put into it you can design a room that will grow with your child and will last you a while. You should, of course, be mindful of whether the room is for a boy or a girl, however, you could always do one that doesn’t favour either sex. This comes in very useful in the case of having twins or other siblings sharing a room.

Thanks and Regards,
Amanda

As a fan of the EPL, I think that the big four would sell well. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all great clubs. I think that individual players from those clubs, the big stars, like Fabregas and Gerrard to name just two are worth picking up. I think that any of the Champions League Clubs – Like Inter and AC Milan as well as the other big Spanish clubs like Real are also worth getting in your cataloger. America is becoming more internationalized around international soccer, and with the World Cup being next season, you might regret not having the known stars as options for your customers. I for one would never put a Manchester United player on my wall, but then I support Arsenal!
